Steve Jobs: Steve Jobs dropped out of college. If he never dropped out he said that he would have gone to the class that taught him how to enhance the computer. When he got fired from apple he created Pixar and Next. he also stated that he loved what he did and he did not stop. His doctor told him to basically say his goodbyes since the doctors said he was only going to live 3-6 months. Since he had a very rare pancreas cancer that was curable by surgery.

Blog 2 Ted Talks: Pranav Mistry talks about how technology can one day become our sixth sense. One thing he said he was interested about was how he could use objects from the outside world and interact them with the digital world. An example he used he made a computer interact in physical world the same as us in a way. So he took an old computer mouse and took it apart and took the two rollers of each mouse, so four rollers. So he attached the object to his arm and essentially made his arm into the mouse of the computer. This device will help the digital world interact with the real world in the future.

5 - To This Day - Shane Koyczan: Bullying is a problem in all schools. Bullying hurts kids more than realized. An example he used of bullying was people tell you what not to be, and when they ask you what they want to be when you grow up they tell you it’s impossible. So when he was a kid people ask him what he wanted to be when he grew up he said a writer, they said to think of something more realistic. So instead he wrestler they said that was impossible.

6 - Emergency Shelters Made From Paper - Shigeru Ban: Shigeru Ban makes structures out of paper. It may be fire proof because it is a industrial material. He was in a competition in Metz. He wanted to work for the people in need. He tried to help refugees in Africa in 1984. There was an earthquake in china and he helped rebuild some of the damage.He also helped repair all of the damage of the 2010 Haiti earthquake. He found solutions from paper to make buildings and homes. To this day he is still building houses and shelters for people in need.
7 - Child Driven Education - Sugata Mitra: Sugata Mitra talks about helping kids in places that really don't get chances to learn. Theses kids learn how to use the internet within hours of receiving it. Children from India learned english within a short span of time. Mitra is showing that kids will learn if they want to learn. With these kids since they do not have many opportunities to learn they had that drive to learn. |
8 - Happy Secret to Better Work - Shawn Achor: Your happiness is is about your lense if you change your lense you change yourself. Internal versus external, external you can only predict 10% of your happiness which means 90% is your brain processes the world. Many schools and parents teach that if we are successful we will be happier. Happier people are more successful because they enjoy what they are doing. For 21 days you can can rewire your brain to make your brain more positive. For example 3 gratitudes, journaling, exercise, meditation and random act of kindness.
9 - Why do We Sleep - Russell Foster: After you learn a task when you are sleeping your brain processes it. Sleeping at night enhances creativity. Teenagers need 9 hours of sleep but many sleep less than 9 hours a night. When you lack sleep you have poor judgement, lack of creativity and much more. If you sleep about five hours or less you are more likely to be obese. Also if you are tired you are more likely to be stressed. Make your room as dark as possible, turn off phone, try not to drink caffeine after lunch. On average teenagers 8 hours but some need more some need less. Sleep disruption can cause mental disorders. Sleep increases concentration, attention, decision making, creativity, social skills and health. Also it decreases mood change, stress, anger, being impulsive and the desire of taking drugs.
10 - Everyday Leadership - Drew Dudley: You can impact somebody's life by things you may not have even noticed we did something. We can impact somebody by what we either do or don't do. He gave this lady a lollipop and cracked a joke to this lady, she was going to quit college and then once that happened her and this man that was there they ended up getting married and stayed in college. There isn't one world there are 6 billion different worlds and there are different perspectives of it

11 - Learning from the Barefoot Movement - Bunker Roy: He went to very poor village to try and give them some education. It was called barefoot college. Food is solar cooked. There energy is solar powered. They started to have school for children at night because most children have take care of animals, chores, etc.. They communicate through puppetry. They got some women together from Afghanistan and taught them in 6 months and trained them to be solar engineers and created the first solar powered place in Afghanistan.
